NEW BUILD | completed 2011

A renovation to an existing timber frame house is Whistler, B.C., this home had gone through many unfortunately additions and updates - leaving it in a state of disrepair. It was determined that the original structure and its inherent beauty were worth saving.

Instead of tearing down and starting new construction, a decision was made to enhance and maintain the original home. The building was stripped back to the original structure and a new covered patio and covered entrance canopy were created. The addition of a new staircase was key to having the internal spaces connect in an intelligent way. A 2-storey space nicknamed ‘the jewel,’ was added to the back of the existing building connecting the kitchen and dining to the top floor living room.

The home was featured in Avenue Magazine’s October 2013 issue.
