MOUNT ROYAL RESIDENCE | conceptual render
RENOVATION | construction in progress
anticipated completion date: 2018
The Client did not want or need a larger house and did not want to tear down the 1940's bungalow that had a second floor added in 1980. To many homes in Calgary are just discarded and end up as landfill. The properties are then maximized with soulless homes that do not fit the character and scale of the existing street. Sustainability, for this Client, meant creating quality space and not quantity of space. The renovation included stripping the existing main floor to the studs to allow for high insulation values. Window locations were revised to take into account the views and the floor plan reconfigured for how the Client uses the house.
